In Remembrance Of Two Brave Souls
In tribute to two fallen firefighters, Captain Robin Broxterman and Firefighter Brian Schira of the Colerain Fire Department. The members of Blue Ash Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 3203 wish to present a story of a life touched not only by the tragedy of lives lost, but of a life remembered that served the community more than some twenty-six years ago.
We are honored and privileged to present Bruce Leonhardt's story of what inspired him to author a wonderful pictorial tribute to the lives lost in service to the Colerain community.
From Bruce Leonhardt
My father served with Dunlap/Colerain from approx. 1965-1982. When he was with Dunlap, that dept. used the same building on Old Colerain. When they transferred water from the tanker truck to the firehouse water supply tank, I would sit on the fire hose on top of the tank to keep it from coming out. I recall many memories revolving around the firehouse. After the tragic death of the firefighters, I realized just how lucky I am to still have my father. My wife decided early on the morning of the funeral to drive over near Northgate to watch the procession. A few hours later she decided she wanted to head down to the cemetery to see what was going on. I took some vacation time to meet my wife and check out the events. Me with my 2 professional digital cameras and my wife with her digital camera, we decided she would capture shots inside and I would stand across the street from the main gate for anything on the outside. After creating the slideshow, I realized that this was an awesome way for me to show my respect for those who gave their lives protecting society. My deepest sympathy goes out to the families of the fallen firefighters. My respect goes to the firefighters who continue to carry on and protect society. May God Bless.
